POW! holding informational meeting tonight

POW! Partnership of Women, a new local organization, will hold an informational meeting this evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ruby Moon Vineyard & Winery, 9566 U.S. 41-Alternate.

POW! is a community of women who seek to create lasting social change in Henderson County through lifelong giving.

POW! pools gifts of all sizes from a broad base of donors annually and will give large grants each fall to local worthy causes selected by the members. The only membership requirement is to be female and to donate each year.

POW! has a first year goal to create a fund of $25,000 with the intent of granting $15,000 in 2013 to a charity that will be selected from grant applications and site visits.

POW! has established two funds. A permanent and a non-permanent fund to benefit social change in Henderson County.

The permanent fund will forever benefit social change in Henderson County with interest off that fund growing the giving effort in perpetuity.

The non-permanent fund will be granted out each year in full. Contributions are divided equally between the two funds.

POW! is a part of the Community Foundation of Henderson &The Community Foundation of West Kentucky, a non-profit organization exempt from federal taxes under IRS Code 501(c)(3).

All contributions are tax-deductible.
